Who can we trust these days ?

Consumers' relationships with their financial services providers have come under particular pressure during the past year, due to the turmoil of the global financial crisis and the deepening recession. But the erosion of trust goes back further than that. Perhaps even to the point where a cynical mistrust of the financial services industry has become the norm. Should providers simply accept that their customers will never love their brand, or champion their products and services like they do in other categories ?
We invite the PR consultancy, Edelman, to summarise extracts from its 'Trust Barometer', the firm's tenth global research study into trust and credibility, which tracks changes in consumer attitudes across a range of industries and geographies.
We also hear from the publishers of the Moneywise Customer Service Awards, who have analysed 10,000 individual questionnaires to highlight the trust-based issues that consumers care most about, preview the winners and losers across the industry and reveal varying attitudes among different consumer groups.
Finally, HSBC gives its interpretation of the trust agenda, and the steps it believes are necessary to restore it.
