Financial services is one of the few industries where the UK leads the world, yet the sector has never faced a greater threat. Regulation from Europe and the UK threaten to blunt the City’s competitive edge. A financial transactions tax, radical banking reforms, stricter immigration rules and a climate of banker bashing all threaten to make the UK a less competitive place to do business. At a time when the Chancellor is warning of an anti-business culture, we convene a panel of leading MPs with a strong interest in financial services to discuss how we can save the City.
