Will equity release soon become a mainstream product?
How do consumers view the concept?
What are the manufacturing and distribution obstacles to equity release achieving its full potential?

Equity release was once a peripheral product with a poor reputation, used only by those in distress as a last resort. Today well known brands and new entrants are actively playing in this space. Innovation and enhancement has transformed the product offering and increasing longevity, coupled with inadequate retirement funding, potentially creates a very powerful 'tipping point'.

Despite this prognosis, the projected growth in this market has so far failed to materialise. The equity release market has grown significantly in relative terms but has still not achieved the much talked about 'breakthrough'. Are we on the cusp of a revolution in the way people leverage the equity in their property at retirement or are there fundamental obstacles to the growth of this business?

This lunchtime seminar will discuss the market potential, first of all from a consumer perspective. Teresea Roux of BDifferent will share insights from a number of recent research projects examining consumers' awareness and attitudes towards the equity release concept.
