Paul Atkinson

Paul is a corporate and B2B communications practitioner with a strong track record in insurance, pensions, building societies, fund management, wholesale financial markets and the regulatory environment.

Through his firm Derwent Communications, he provides consultancy and interim support to organisations implementing change initiatives and managing policy and reputational issues. Between July 2015 and February 2017 he acted as the Communications lead for the Financial Conduct Authority's MiFID II project, coordinating an integrated programme to reach a wide variety of stakeholders ranging from retail financial advisers to international financial markets, as well as associated trade bodies, political audiences and other opinion-formers.

In addition to a further project supporting a number of the FCA's thematic reviews, his other assignments have included work with the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, the Association of Train Operating Companies, Aviva, Chaucer and two smaller building societies. His previous in-house roles have included EMEA Marketing & Communications Director of Aon, UK Communications Director of RSA Insurance, and Head of External Affairs of Nationwide Building Society.
